It’s not WHAT you say, it’s HOW you say it that counts!

Although I think distance-learning is terrific in many ways, one of the challenges throughout my Open University studies was often knowing how new words were pronounced. I knew that ‘butte’ is pronounced ‘bee-oot’, ‘Laos’ is ‘Louse’ and ‘gabion’ is ‘gay-bee-on’ but every now and then I needed a bit of clarification!

I have added a link to this pronunciation website on my ‘Useful Links’ sidebar as it really is fantastic. Not only does it include every possible geographical and scientific word you could possibly need, if you’re ever a bit bored (and perhaps, like me, also a bit silly sometimes!) it has rude ones too. ;-)
